Type of Car – DO NOT REMOVE VIN #
Any hardtop automobile or station wagon any rear is allowed.
NO trucks, convertibles, jeeps, vans, hearses, limousines, checker cabs, Chrysler Imperials, Windsor or Imperial sub Frame cars.
Cars previously run in demos may be considered too battered and unsafe, resulting in disqualification.
Demolition derbies are hazardous and high – risk sports; therefore, anyone with a health condition, i.e., concussion, heart problems etc. or who is pregnant should not compete.
1. Open door 2. Fires 3. Unsafe vehicle 4. Non-working fire extinguisher 5. Special situation deemed necessary by official.
Protect yourself. Work boots, sport equipment – e.g. neck brace, knee pads, shoulder pads, hip pads etc. are recommended. NO BARE EXPOSED SKIN.
Working seat belt and racing helmet are mandatory. Goggles or face shields are recommended.
Vehicles must have dependable brakes at all times. All boundaries must be observed.
No drinking of alcoholic beverages on track, emergency vehicle area or in the pit area. Any driver or pit person under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be immediately disqualified and removed from the grounds. This will be strictly enforced.
No cars permitted in the competition area before the heat in which they are to participate.
Competitive aggressive hits! Sandbaggers will be disqualified!
All Cars are to be removed from the racetrack immediately following the show.
Additional safety regulations may be imposed, depending on track and conditions.

Preparation of car – Remove or convert the following prior to arriving at the track
RIDING ON CAR
Insurance Regulation: No person riding on outside of cars at anytime.
Flammable materials, glass, seats & trim – all must be removed from vehicle except driver’s & passenger’s seat and dashboard.
Sharp/dangerous objects all must be mashed down or cut off. No trailer hitches.
DOORS & NUMBERS
Driver & passenger doors must be PAINTED WHITE.
Must have gauges and must be within close reach of driver’s compartment. No functioning fire extinguisher will result in disqualification.
No screens allowed. (Stock A.C. condensers permitted in original position.)
No reinforcement or protection. Changing the car rear-end allowed.
Pre-bending is permitted
Distributor protector allowed. NOTE: On fresh cars protector must be 1″ away from firewall.
Trailing arms must be trailing arm material – no square tubing, No reinforcement in any way.
HOOD & TRUNK
Hoods are mandatory at beginning of derby
It is mandatory that an opening be cut in hood over carburetor, approximately 8″ x 12″ maximum diameter. Strictly enforced. Recommend removing hood latch in case of fire. A hole should be cut in middle of trunk lit for visibility.
Hood, trunk or tailgate must be fastened down in 6 places with seat belt strapping, wire or ¼” chain only through each hole. NO welds on hood. Hood must be kept in original position and must be left open until after inspection. Trunk must be kept in original position. Trunk/tailgate may be welded down in 6 locations using 3″ square plates maximum and 16″ hole in trunk mandatory if it cannot be opened for inspection. Official’s decision re over-use materials
Inside car: No cross bracing of firewall bracing.
Outside Car: Recommend flat bar only bolted 4 times ( with a maximum ½” through bolt) spot welded 1″ every 12″ on each side of vehicle, e.g. Max 72″ long x 12″ wide x ¼” thick. Beveling allowed. NO “C” CHANNEL OR ANGLE IRON
Driver’s door must be reinforced and can be welded solid. All other doors must be fastened shut with wire, traps, ¼” chains or spot welded. 1″ every 12″ or 6 – 3″ square plates welded.
LEAF SPRINGS, SHOCKS AND COILS
Suspension must be stock. Movement must occur.
It is recommended that rear coiled springs be wired to the differential. NO spring blocks.
Stock gas tank must be removed and replaced. Tanks must be marine, motorcycle, custom made metal tanks or CSA molded tanks and must be bolted down securely. Gas tank must be securely mounted in the compartment behind the front seat and over the rear axle housing hump. Splashguard (airbag material, rubber floor mat / fire retardant blanket) must be secured over the tank and tank must be totally concealed from the driver.
Maximum 3 gallons gas. NOTE: No “gas carrying” containers. A strict inspection will be enforced on all gas tanks.
Electric fuel pumps are permitted, but the fuel pump line must be completely shielded and concealed from diver with fire retardant – same as gas tank. A shut off switch must be with driver’s reach in the centre of the dash and a secondary switch located on the outside roof above driver MARKED IN RED. PUNCH BUTTON HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
IMPORTANT – All holes in fire wall must be filled/ covered with a tin or nonflammable material. No reinforcement.
-Stitching, welding or any altering of frames deemed unnecessary will not be tolerated.
– Front of car may be welded as far as front of rad cradle. No back welding
-Any welding deemed inappropriate must be cut – Official’s discretion
-No painting / undercoating of frames – frames must be clean. Alterations to frames are for repair purposes only – “not reinforcing”. Official’s discretion.
-Any frame alterations must be reported at sign in – Request “LOOK” sticker.
– Metal may be cut from around wheels for clearance.
-Front fenders & rear quarters may be bolted with up to 5 bolts per panel – maximum 3/8″ bolt.
-Front bumper bay be welded as far as front of rad cradle. Anything further will require the bumper to be removed.
-Rear bumper may be welded back to the bumper horns, or where it is bolted to the frame
-No cutting of bumpers – may be bent inward.
-Bumpers cannot be wired to hood.
-No loading of bumpers (holes may be required to be cut in bumpers) – official’s discretion
– Welded solid or chained down engine mounts are recommended. Any excessive reinforcement will be disqualified.
-Radiators and cooling system bust be flushed of anti-freeze and only water added.
-Overflows for radiator must point downward to the ground.
-Floating or leaned back rad cradles will be accepted – No reinforcement
-Are permitted but only if they are secured in side the engine compartment
-Transmission dipstick must be wired down or overflow tube secured pointing downward to ground.
– Headers must point straight up.
ROLLBARS –INSIDE CAR
-Single roll bar up each doorframe, across roof, welded post to post (3″ dia. Pipe or tubing). No diagonal bracing.
-Post to post bare behind driver’s seat – No other inside bracing.
– Rubber body mounts may be removed
-4 through (Max ¾”) bolts in 4 locations only allowed on car with 3″ square plates – Total 4 – your choice where you locate. Rad cradle does not count as 2 of your locations.
One (1) 12 volt car battery only. Battery must be placed on floorboard of front passenger’s compartment and securely fastened and covered with nonflammable material isolated from gas line.
Maximum 16″ low aggression. Must hold air –tubing and/or double tire permissible.
-No solid tires and no forklift tires. Participants carry spare 16″ mud tires in case track conditions warrant. For safety – no welding of valve stem protection. Official’s discretion.
-Strong upright steel, chain or iron bar must be placed in center of windshield space. Strong steel construction type wire mesh is recommended for left front windshield only.
-“A” or “H” framing for windshield must be no more than 36″ in width.
