The Great Crate Race at Brighton Speedway is now less than a month away, and excitement is beginning to build for the Saturday, September 7th race as McDougall Insurance & Financial presents the 3rd annual event. It will be a 65 lap race, paying more than $5000.00 to win in cash and contingencies with a total payout in excess of $20,000.00.The Great Crate Race will be part of the Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series, and anticipation is high amongst the Brighton Speedway regulars, as they look to defend their home track turf with several invaders coming in from other parts of Ontario, New York, and possibly as far away as Pennsylvania and Ohio. McDougall Insurance & Financial returns as the title sponsor of this event, with additional backing from Excel Tower Service, Brighton Speedway, Hotch's Auto Parts, Dibbits Excavating Ltd., King Landscaping, John's Equipment, Tenacious Racing, and Finish Line Web Design. Lee Gill took the checkered flag in the inaugural Great Crate Race on September 17th, 2011. Last year it was Chuck Meyers taking the win, after rain forced track officials to postpone the event to Sunday afternoon. Brighton Speedway regulars will be looking to keep the title at home this year, with defending Brighton Speedway Late Model Champion Corey Earl leading the way along with Phil Potts, Greg Belyea, Charlie Sandercock, Caley Weese and several other top Brighton Speedway Late Model competitors. In addition to the Great Crate Race, the OILgard Anti Rust Canadian Modifieds also have big money on the line with the $2000.00 to win Danny Reid Memorial event on the same night. More information will be released over the coming weeks leading up to the race regarding these two great events scheduled for Saturday, September 7th. General Admission for this event is only $15 for adults, $10 for Youths and Seniors and only $4 for children ages 7 to 12. Children six years of age and under are admitted FREE to the main grandstand area. Gates will open at 5:30pm with racing action getting underway at 7:00pm.
