Humberstone Getting Ready for 2013 Racing Season

HUMBERSTONE LOGO_2011_smallPORT COLBORNE, ONTARIO… The staff and officials of the New Humberstone Speedway are anxiously awaiting the start of the 2013 racing season. The season will officially kick off with the annual car show at the Seaway Mall from March 25th through April 2nd. The racecars will hit the track for the first time during the track’s two practice sessions on Wednesday April 17th and Sunday April 28th.

“The car show gives our drivers exposure to potential new sponsors and also gives the track exposure to potentially new fans from all across the region” says Humberstone Director of Public and Media Relations Steven Petty. The Seaway Mall is located on the corner of Woodlawn Road and Main Street in Welland and features 120 shops and services. It is in the heart of the Niagara Peninsula and is one of Niagara’s top shopping destinations.

Humberstone’s season opener will get the green flag on Sunday May 5th starting promptly at 6:00pm. Another highlight on the schedule is the appearance and tour stop number one of the Go Nuclear Late Model Tour on Sunday May 19th. “We are proud and honored to be the first race on the schedule for this new and upcoming series” Petty said. The John Puhl Memorial featuring the Go Nuclear Late Models will also feature the Cosco Haulage DIRTcar Sportsman, JC Auto Street Stocks, Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks, Trackside Decals Mini Stocks and the Frontier Auto Dismantlers Pure Stocks and will conclude with Victoria Day Fireworks. Humberstone management is reminding fans about the special offer that the track posted on its Twitter. If fans attend 14 races this season, the 15th race is free.  “We are saying thank you to our fans that support us each race week” says Director of Public and Media Relations Steven Petty. The 2013 season lid-lifter will take place on Sunday May 5th starting at 6:00pm and admission prices are just five dollars.  

Speedway management would also like to remind racers that the special discounted prices on Season Passes will be good until March 31st. Season Passes for the Pure Stocks, Pro 4 Trucks and Mini Stocks is $225 while the Street Stocks, Sportsman and Late Model competitors will pay $275. Management is also reminding the drivers that they need to have a Humberstone Membership in order to receive point fund money.
