Hilton Comes Up With Big Win at Humberstone

HILTON, CARLEY, DUCHESNE FIRST TIME WINNERS, MONAHAN, TOOVEY, BUSCUMB REPEAT! Port Colborne,ON by Les Mawson( Dilts Piston Hydraulics night, the weather was hot and so was the action on the track at the New Humberstone Speedway! Victory Lane had three first time winners with one of them picking up their first career win! Cosco Haulage DIRTcar Sportsman: Starting on the pole was the rookie Joey Mastroianni with Jeff Armstrong right along side and on the drop of the green, Mastroianni was able to get the early lead coming out of turn two and then hold it for the first four laps, with pressure from Adam Hilton the whole time. Hilton was able to get around Mastroianni on lap five, bringing the other rookie, Austin Wood, along with him. Soon after that, Darrell Farraway jumped into the mix, passing Mastroianni and taking off after Hilton and Wood. On lap ten, the first yellow flag of the race came out for a spin by Greg Panunte and on the restart, Farraway was able to get around Wood for second and then get by Hilton for the lead, On the next lap, Hilton was able to get back around Farraway and soon after, Wood was also able to get around Farraway. Hilton survived another caution on lap 13 for a slowing Gary Lindberg and also a late charge from Wood. At the finish, it was Hilton for the win, his first of 2012. Wood was second and Farraway was third. Fourth was Cody McPherson and Panunte came back through the pack for fifth. Heat winners were Adam Leslie, Lindberg and Wood. Peters Excavating FASTRAK Late Models: On the pole was the veteran Don Spiece with Kenny Winfield along side. On the initial drop of the green, Spiece wasn't able to get up to speed and that caused some havoc back in the pack with contact between Tim Gillespie and Bill Gill, bringing out the only caution of the race. Spiece got it right on the restart, taking the early lead coming out of turn two and holding it for the first four laps. On lap five, Ed Carley took over the lead bringing Adam Ferri along for the ride. The two "old pro's" then proceeded to put some distance on the field and with no yellow flags to bunch up the pack, Carley was able to hold off Ferri for the win, his first of 2012. Ferri was second with Darren Peters coming in third. Fourth was Zack Carley topping off a good night for the Carley family with Spiece hanging on for fifth. Heat winners were Ed Carley and Spiece. J C Auto Street Stocks: Starting on the front row was Barry Blanchard with Chris Duchesne alongside and on the start, Duchesne was able to outrun Blanchard into turn one and then, with no yellow flags to bunch up the pack, was able to hold off the rest of the field to pick up his first career win. After some good racing between the three Camaros in the field, it was Jason Fontaine getting the best of them to come in second with Paul Reichel in third. Fourth was Blanchard with Jordan Fidler in fifth. Weekend Motorsports Mini Stocks: Starting on the pole was Jocelyne Wiley alongside of former J C Auto Street Stock driver Ron Loggie and on the start, Loggie took the early lead coming out of turn four getting a push from the car behind him, Nate Monahan. Monahan kept the pressure up for the first four laps and then, surviving the only caution period of the run for a spin by Tyler Lafantaisie, was able to get around Loggie on lap five. Again, as the night seemed to be, the lack of yellow flags was the norm with the leader was able to distance himself from the field, and this race was no exception. All the racing was in behind the leader, Monahan, with Kyle Pelrine and Brandon Iudiciani having a good hard battle with Loggie. The last nine laps were all Monahan's, taking his third win of 2012. Second was Loggie with Pelrine in third. Fourth was Iudicianni and Rob Overholt sneaking in fifth. Heat winners were Monahan and Iudicani. Niagara Auto Sales Pro 4 Trucks: On the pole was third generation rookie driver Colton Ledingham with Adam Williams alongside of him. Williams grabbed the early lead and held it for the first two laps until the only yellow flag of this run for a spin by Danny Wurster. The restart put Mike Toovey along side of Williams and Toovey took advantage of this, taking the lead away from Williams and then running out to a good lead and ultimately the win. All the racing was in the pack with Greg Haegens and Adam Nicholls having a good battle for second. At the finish it was Toovey picking up his third win of 2012 with Haegens taking second and Nicholls in third. Fourth was Taylor Vanderzanden and Lee Sleight fifth. Heat winners were Ledingham and Toovey. Frontier Auto Dismantlers Pure Stocks:Starting on the front row was Jon Vineski with Kyle Tomaski along side. On the green flag, Vineski grabbed the early lead and held it for the first six laps. On lap seven, the first yellow flag came out for Brad Alward losing his right rear wheel going into turn one and on the restart, Leroy Buscumb took the lead from Vineski and held it until the end, surviving two more restarts for spins. At the finish, it was Buscumb picking up his fourth win of 2012 with Sam Iftody second and Kyle Rothwell third. Fourth was Mason Smith with Billy Smith fifth. Heat winners were Vineski and Iftody.
